I played trumpet for years in high school and college, and I had an old Doc Severinsen model that I had a crystal clear beautiful sound with. Several years ago, I purchased an inexpensive trumpet and it sounded like garbage. I’ve decided to get back into playing again. Based on the reviews, I decided to go “cheap” and try this one. By “cheap” I mean as compared to the 0+ I could spend on what I knew would be a high quality instrument.
The other users are right on target about the valves being turned funny in the chambers, but that’s easy to fix. Simply unscrew the tops of each valve chamber (not the stem itself), and turn them until they click. When seated properly, air should be able to be blown freely through the trumpet with all the valves up. If not, simply try turning them again. With a good eye you can line up the holes in the valves with the trumpet.
The trumpet ships with valve oil, and the slides are clearly well greased and ready for action. I took it out of the case, adjusted the valves as noted, blew through it for about 2 minutes to warm it up, and then produced a sound equivalent to my beautiful old Doc Severinsen. The valves work easily, the slides slide gracefully, and the most important piece is the sound quality is amazing.
As if all that wasn’t enough, I ordered the item, and it was on my doorstep within 3 business days.
If you have a youngster just starting out, or are getting back into it like I am, or need a good concert quality trumpet without spending a thousand dollars, this is the horn for you!

I bought it for my PSP-2000 and it works with no problems. As other buyers have noted, it has ~14.9 GB usable space. Data transfer between my computer and my PSP was ~8MB/second using a USB cable.
I’ve read a few reviews warning about counterfeits. I bought the 16GB MKII Pro Duo from OneStopShop via Amazon and got the real deal. I loaded 12GB of data onto it to verify it worked and then ran a CRC32 check on them to make sure the data didn’t get corrupted upon transfer.

The stand is nice. It’s surely better than nothing, fits in the bell just as described. And yes it’s not as sturdy as solid stands but that’s to be expected. But it holds it up on my carpet floor just fine, if it gets bumped hard it will fall but most incidental contact it will stay up just fine. On a hard flat surface far more stable of course. I think it was a great purchase and would happily recommend it to others.
Folding Pack A Stand clarinet stand stores in the bell of the instrument. Made from high-tech plastic, the stand is compact and guaranteed not to harm your clarinet.

I’ll admit I haven’t listened to very many other cartridges, but these were a great replacement for the Stanton 500Bs that came with my T.60 turntables. These have more dynamic range and deliver more bass, and clear highs. The stanton 500Bs had a little bit of distortion in the treble range when playing passages with lots of bass. The Shure’s handle the same passages better, with less audible distortion. I believe part of the distortion I was hearing was due to the straight tone-arms reverberation on the T.60s. I’ve since upgraded to Technic 1200s with the S shaped tone-arms which seems to help as well.
The main advantage I’ve noticed with this stylus over the Stanton’s is the increased clearance from the bottom of the cartridge to the bottom of the stylus. I have a few warped records that I couldn’t get to play with the Stanton due to the record actually bumping into the bottom of the cartridge. The Shure’s handle these records great with an extra 2mm or so more clearance.
Revived exactly the same as the original, this legendary battle needle offers ultra-high skip resistance and ultra-high output. The needle of choice for many champion DJ’s worldwide, including The former Invisibl Skratch Piklz, X-ecutioners, and The World Famous Beat Junkies. Engineered for scratch DJ’s and turntablists, the M44-7 is designed not to skip under even the most demanding circumstances. Combining Shure’s unique wide-diameter Type S cantilever with a tracking force of 1.5 to 3.0 grams, the M44-7′s rugged construction is highly durable, but will not unduly wear your vinyl. With a 9.5 mV output, the highest on the market, the M44-7 produces very powerful, resonant sound.

This is a wonderful instrument for those who want to have some music in their lives without the committment of an expensive instrument and lessons. The book is so easy to follow and the whistle itself has a nice clean sound and is easy to hold and play. The fact that it is made in Ireland, is inexpensive, and unusual (not the usual recorder that most late elementary schoolers are playing) makes it a nice, classy alternative for children 7 and up looking for an instrument to play.
The book contains a nice variety of tunes – some of which are Irish and some of which are not. My only negative comment is that with some of the Irish tunes that I have not ever heard played or sung, I am not sure where the hesitations (correct word) in the playing are to occur, and not sure reading the music how to determine this. This means that some of these songs are not practical to play.
But all in all, this is a great little whistle, and would make a great gift, too.
This is a straightforward guide to playing the Irish Whistle, key of “D”. Using an easy to follow fingering chart, it has been especially designed for beginners. Included is a selection of well-known airs, tunes and dance music. International fingering Chart included.

Well, while I did say “east to use” it does require a little practice to get the hang of having to move your mouth around the tube. And also to get the the words to sound intelligible. But to a large degree that also depends on the effect you use. I use my microKORG with my Banshee so its very easy to tweak the settings as I go to get the sound I’m looking for. Also as a little side note I will say this, if you turn the gain up on the Banshee you will get a very prominant hissing that leaks out of the tube. But if you play with the volume knobs on both the talkbox and the input device its really not a problem that can’t be tamed.
Bringing a cool, new twist to the outdated generation of complicated and risky talk boxes, the Banshee is a unique new product that gives classic rock touches to today’s players. Although “talk boxes” have been used in the making of hit music (Aerosmith, Frampton, Joe Walsh, etc.) for years, many guitar players simply have not tried them because of their complicated and potentially damaging setup. Leave it to the stomp box gurus at Rocktron. The Banshee rocks, simply and safely. What makes the Banshee so unique is that it contains its own internal preamp, amplifier, and horn driver. You simply plug into the Banshee like you would any common stomp box, and run the provided “tubing” up the mic stand and into your mouth. The rest is up to your own imagination as you get the most incredible sounds from your instrument. And no more risk of blowing up your favorite amp head, (always a possibility with talk boxes of old). The Banshee’s preamp section features controls for gain, tone, and output level. A wide range of clean and dirty preamp tones may be dialed in with plenty of saturation for those who desire lots of gain. Guitar World Magazine wrote: “The Banshee’s high-gain preamp and focused tone control allow for excellent enunciation and sustain. With minimal practice, I was able to create clear words and open vowels, and I could readily see how anyone could become addicted to this effect.” Not only does the Banshee scream in the talkbox mode, but Rocktron has also included an extra jack for hookup with an extension pedal speaker. Plugging a speaker cabinet to this output turns your pedal board into a perfect practice setup with enough volume to do some pretty serious cranking! Get your hands on the most unique product in years and let your creative juices flow! Or as Guitar World Magazine put it: “With a simple design and arena-worthy performance at a cool price, this Banshee is sure to send you screaming into the night.

I searched all over amazon, and I couldn’t find an edition of the Mozart sonatas that I wanted, so I took my chances with this one based on the reviews of other books from the same publisher. It was exactly what I was looking for. It includes fingering, and although it is sometimes questionable, you can usually use it as a base to establish your own fingering. It tells you exactly how to do the trills, which is very helpful. The fact that it is not urtext definately adds to its appeal. While some people like urtext, I find the markings useful.
Unquestionably a great book!
Revised and edited by Richard Epstein with a biographical sketch of the composer by Philip Hale. All text is written both in English and Spanish.

This is a great microphone. I got this mic instead of the PG58 because of the 10 Hz difference. The PG48 is rated from 70-15,000Hz while the PG58 is rated from 60-15,000Hz. I probably won’t be able to tell the difference between the two so I got the PG48-QTR and I’m glad I did! It’s a nicely built mic! Its solid and it looks like it can handle a little abuse, I haven’t tried that theory yet. The PG48-QTR come with the cable to a 1/4″ plug, a clip for putting on a mic stand, which is a plus, a bag to hold the mic in, and some other accessories that I won’t use. Now it doesn’t come with a 1/4″ to 3.5mm adapter so you probable just have to go to the shack to get it!
If your unsure to buy this mic, get it! You won’t probably regret it!
An excellent performance microphone for spoken word applications. The PG48-XLR includes a 15 ft (4.57m) XLR to XLR Cable, Microphone Clip, 5/8″ to 3/8″ Thread Adapter, and a Storage Bag.
Tailored for performers of every level, the Shure PG48 vocal microphone is an excellent performance microphone for spoken word applications–and it’s also a great choice for karaoke singing. This PG48-QTR model includes a 15-foot XLR-to-1/4″ cable, microphone clip, 5/8″ to 3/8″ thread adapter, and a storage bag. It’s backed by a 2-year warranty.

If all instruction material was as solid as this, I would have 50-100 books/DVDs in all (for bass, guitar, mandolin), not a 1000 or more.
There is enough easily usable information here to build your technique from scratch to as serviceable as any normal contemporary bass player’s slap technique needs to be in typical playing situations. Only if you play in a solo or a bass-dominant musical context, would you need anything more.
Of course, once you fall in love with the possibilities of playing slap & pop (and tap etc.), you WILL need more. At that point you should get Stuart Clayton’s ULTIMATE SLAP BASS, which actually is as complete a guide on any style on any instrument ever written (I otter know, coz I’ve invested more money in instruction material than any other human). Still, Clayton’s book might be overwhelming because of its thoroughness; Ed’s DVD has the essentials and intermediate stuff, but there’s a load of them in here and the booklet is generous by DVD standards.
The only 3rd slap instruction you will perhaps need is the Hal Leonard book FUNK BASS by Chris Kringel as that gives you some real famous songs to learn. Of course, you can later progress to Victor Wooten’s and Primus’s transcriptions. In any case, for less than 20 buckaroos, this DVD provides the maximum wham for the whampum!
Not considered: Double thumbing, chord playing, and strumming. Of course, no tapping either; although in performance at a high level, tapping is often interspersed into slap technique.
This DVD is the ultimate source for learning the secrets of funk bass, in a player-friendly menu format. Covers: instruction on slapping, popping, left-hand integration, dead notes, and more dangerous techniques; a dedicated groove for each new tech…
